At the vertix, where the coasts of Copacabana and Ipanema meet, we find two beaches, a particular rock formation, and a pretty park.
The beaches at Arpoador, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, are called "Praia do Diabo" (Do Diabo Beach), and "Praia do Arpoador" (Arpoador Beach), the rock is called "Pedra do Arpoador" (Arpoador Rock) , and the Park "Parque Garota de Ipanema" (Girl from Ipanema Park).

Arpoador Stone, Rio de Janeiro, is a rock formation that comes out directly from the Atlantic Ocean.
Whale hunting with harpoons was very common at Arpoador, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was done some time ago by the indians, and continued by the Portuguese.
From this historical fact derives the name "Pedra do Arpoador", in english (harpooner's rock, Rio de Janeiro).
Arpoador Rock, Rio de Janeiro gives it's name to Arpoador beach. The beach is on the right side of the rock (if we are standing on it looking at the sea). On the left side of the rock we have do Diabo beach, Rio de Janeiro.

Arpoador beach, Rio de Janeiro, occupies the first 800 meters of a coastline that includes Ipanema and Leblon.

DO DIABO - DEVIL´S BEACH RIO DE JANEIRO:
On the left side of Arpoador's Rock we find Do Diabo beach (Devil's beach), Rio de Janeiro.
Praia do Diabo beach, Rio de Janeiro, is situated between Copacabana and Ipanema. Despite being very small it has it's own coastline, it´s in front and wide open, to the sea. This particularity makes Devil´s beach (do Diabo beach), it very suitable for surfing.
You enter Do Diabo beach (Devil´s beach), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, through a small green park where you can enjoy a relaxing atmosphere and freezing cocounut water.
GIRL FROM IPANEMA PARK RIO DE JANEIRO:
Parque Garota de Ipanema, or Girl from Ipanema Park, Rio de Janeiro, is situated in front of do Diabo and Arpoador beaches, at Arpoador neighbourhood, between Av. Francisco Bhering and Francisco Otaviano Street. Parque Garota de Ipanema Green Park consists of an area de 2,58 hectares, and can be visited on a daily basis from 6 am to 7 pm.
Garota de Ipanema Park is a priviledged space for paisagism and the enjoyment of vegetation. Girl from Ipanema Park is also a great sporting practice area, with several sports courts, such as a skate rink and rollerblading area. It also has a children playground area.
In 1994, Girl from Ipanema Park became part of the Ambiental Protection Area of Copacabana and Arpoador. Due to this proclamation, activities that affect the local environment are not allowed.
